VAS Aero Services (VAS), a prominent global provider of aviation logistics and aftermarket solutions, has been appointed by Airbus to oversee the dismantling and redistribution of used serviceable material (USM) from three retiring Airbus A380 aircraft. This collaboration reinforces VAS’s standing as a specialist in large aircraft teardown operations, particularly for the A380 model, and positions the company as a key player in the $29 billion maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) market.

Project Scope and Execution

The dismantling project will focus on airframes MSN 61, 66, and 84, conducted in partnership with Tarmac Aerosave, a leading aircraft storage, maintenance, and recycling firm based in Tarbes, France. Components extracted from these aircraft will be stored within Europe, facilitating efficient distribution to MRO providers and airlines throughout the EMEA region via VAS’s established spares sales network. This strategy aims to address the growing demand for recycled parts, as airlines and MRO operators increasingly prioritize cost-effective and sustainable solutions.

This contract marks VAS’s 13th A380 teardown project, building on its pioneering 2018 collaboration with The Dr. Peters Group, which managed the first-ever A380 dismantlement.
