STS Aviation Group Announces Leadership Promotions and Launches Defence Division

STS Aviation Group (STS) has announced a series of key leadership promotions alongside the establishment of a new defence division, signaling a strategic effort to accelerate global expansion and diversify its service portfolio.

Leadership Appointments Strengthen Commercial and Service Operations

Ethan Steele, who has dedicated 25 years to the company, has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Head of Commercial. Reporting directly to CEO PJ Anson, Steele will oversee all commercial operations with a focus on enhancing customer partnerships, expanding market presence, and driving strategic growth. Steele previously led STS Engineering Solutions, successfully transforming it into a leading aerospace engineering provider. Reflecting on his new responsibilities, Steele emphasized the importance of innovation and relationship-building in advancing the company’s objectives.

In addition, Shane King has been appointed President of STS Aviation Services, where he will manage the company’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations across the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East. King, who has played a pivotal role in overseeing STS Aviation Services in the Americas, will now report to Mark Smith, President of STS Aviation Group. His leadership is expected to ensure operational excellence and support the company’s continued growth in these key regions.

Launch of STS Defence Solutions Expands Military Capabilities

In a significant move to broaden its capabilities, STS has launched STS Defence Solutions, a new division dedicated to military aircraft MRO services. Brian Bento, an aerospace and defence industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, has been appointed Executive Vice President of Defence. Bento’s extensive background includes managing multi-million-dollar Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) programs and coordinating operations across global theatres such as AFRICOM, EUCOM, and SOCOM. Reporting directly to CEO PJ Anson, Bento will focus on expanding STS’s presence in the defence sector, aiming to deliver high standards of service and operational efficiency. Bento expressed enthusiasm about the new venture, highlighting the division’s commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of defence clients worldwide.

The creation of STS Defence Solutions positions the company to compete with established players in the military MRO market. Industry analysts suggest that the market may respond positively to STS’s expanded capabilities, although the move is also expected to trigger strategic responses from competitors intent on preserving their market share.

These leadership changes and the launch of the defence division underscore STS Aviation Group’s dedication to growth, innovation, and diversification as it seeks to strengthen its global footprint and adapt to shifting industry demands.
