Trax to enable SIA Engineering Company's new MRO facility in Malaysia

Trax to Power SIA Engineering Company’s Fully Digital MRO Facility in Malaysia
MIAMI, April 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ – Trax, a global leader in aviation maintenance and engineering software, will provide the digital backbone for SIA Engineering Company’s (SIAEC) new heavy maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility in Malaysia. The partnership marks a significant step forward in the aviation industry’s shift toward paperless operations.
The new Base Maintenance Malaysia (BMM) facility will launch with Trax’s eMRO and eMobility platforms, enabling end-to-end digitalization of maintenance planning, task execution, release management, and cost control. “Developing a new facility that is entirely paperless from the onset marks a significant milestone for Trax, SIAEC, and the industry as a whole,” said Andrew Schmidt, Executive Vice President at Trax.
Key Benefits for the Facility
- Paperless Task Execution: Trax’s TaskControl application will eliminate paper-based workflows, allowing for electronic task card execution, improved speed and accuracy, and reliable regulatory compliance.
- Faster Maintenance Turnarounds: Fully digital check packages are expected to reduce turnaround times for maintenance events.
- Optimized Resource Planning: The Production Control application will streamline manpower allocation and slot planning, supporting operational efficiency.
- Real-Time Inventory and Tool Management: The eMRO platform will provide maintenance teams with up-to-date information on parts and tools, enhancing logistics and resource utilization.
- Digital Contract and Cost Management: eMRO will also handle contract management and digital invoicing, simplifying administration and improving financial transparency.
Jeremy Yew, SIAEC’s Senior Vice President of Base Maintenance, emphasized the facility’s commitment to quality and operational reliability: “When BMM commences operations, this modern, digital MRO facility will support our commitment to quality, safety, and operational reliability for our global customers.”
While the move to a fully digital MRO facility positions SIAEC and Trax at the forefront of industry innovation, it also presents challenges. Integrating advanced technology systems and ensuring compliance with evolving aviation regulations will be critical to the project’s success. Nevertheless, market response is expected to be positive, as airlines and MRO providers increasingly seek digital solutions to boost efficiency and transparency. The initiative may prompt competitors to accelerate their own digital transformation efforts to maintain their market positions.
Trax, a wholly owned subsidiary of AAR CORP. (NYSE: AIR), is recognized for its mobile and cloud-based aviation maintenance products. Its solutions support digital signatures, RFID-enabled logistics, biometric security, and offline capabilities, allowing users to access critical information anytime, anywhere. Trax’s ongoing commitment to innovation and customer support continues to set new standards in aviation maintenance technology.
As SIAEC’s Malaysian facility prepares to open, the collaboration with Trax signals a new era of digital MRO operations—one that could reshape industry practices and expectations worldwide.
