WeSky’s Recharge Power System Debuts on SriLankan Airlines A330

WeSky’s recharge™ Power System Debuts on SriLankan Airlines A330
WeSky has successfully introduced its innovative recharge™ 60W USB-C in-seat power system aboard a SriLankan Airlines Airbus A330-200, specifically installed in the business class cabin. This system is recognized as the aviation industry’s lightest in-seat power solution, offering high power output to passenger devices while contributing minimal additional weight to the aircraft. This feature is particularly significant as airlines continue to prioritize efficiency and weight reduction in cabin design.
Advanced Technology and Certification
The recharge™ system, certified under EASA Form 1, weighs a mere 110 grams per seat and is engineered for both simplicity and high performance. It consists of only two main components: a seat power box (SPB) and a smart outlet unit (SOU). The system supports up to 60W of USB-C charging, compatible with both power delivery (PD) and programmable power supply (PPS) protocols, ensuring fast and reliable charging for a wide range of passenger devices.
Vytis Petrusevicius, founder and CEO of WeSky, emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, “Bringing a new product onto a wide-body platform requires months of engineering and certification effort, and seeing recharge™ now flying on the A330 is a major milestone for WeSky.” This deployment marks a critical step in the company’s efforts to advance in-seat power technology.
Market Impact and Industry Context
The launch of recharge™ aligns with a broader industry trend toward lighter and more efficient cabin solutions. While WeSky faces competition from established in-seat power providers, the market has responded positively to the system’s ultra-lightweight design and ease of installation. Industry analysts suggest that WeSky’s technological advancements may prompt competitors to accelerate improvements in their own offerings.
Operating as an EASA Part 21J-approved Design Organisation (DOA), WeSky specializes in the in-house development and certification of next-generation in-seat power systems under the recharge™ brand. The system incorporates advanced gallium nitride (GaN)-based power conversion technology, meeting the latest standards for modern aircraft cabins.
With its deployment on SriLankan Airlines’ A330, WeSky’s recharge™ system exemplifies the growing emphasis on lightweight, high-performance in-seat power solutions, setting a new standard for efficiency and passenger convenience in the aviation sector.
