GE Aerospace Opens CFM LEAP Maintenance Facility in Poland

GE Aerospace Opens CFM LEAP Maintenance Facility in Poland
GE Aerospace, in collaboration with Lufthansa Technik, has officially opened XEOS, a cutting-edge engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility located in Poland. This new center is dedicated exclusively to servicing CFM International LEAP engines, which power leading narrowbody aircraft such as the Airbus A320neo (LEAP-1A) and Boeing 737 MAX (LEAP-1B).
Advanced Infrastructure and Workforce Development
The XEOS facility spans over 35,000 square meters and features modern infrastructure, including engine preparation halls, assembly and disassembly zones, specialized repair stations, and an engine training center. Currently staffed by 250 employees, the facility is designed to improve operational efficiency and accelerate workforce training and skill development within the region. This initiative highlights GE Aerospace’s strategic commitment to expanding its MRO capacity for CFM LEAP engines in Poland while fostering the growth of a highly skilled local aerospace workforce.
At present, XEOS is actively servicing LEAP-1B engines, working on LEAP-1A modules, and conducting engine testing. GE Aerospace plans to enhance the facility’s capabilities by introducing additional testing for LEAP-1B engines and increasing repair and overhaul capacity in the near future.
Strategic Significance and Market Context
The launch of XEOS reinforces Poland’s emerging role as a key hub for engine maintenance in Europe. GE Aerospace has also implemented programs aimed at nurturing young talent and developing specialized skills to support this vision. While the facility is expected to strengthen GE’s market share and has been positively received, it faces challenges in meeting high demand and competing with established engine maintenance providers. Industry analysts anticipate that competitors may respond by expanding their own MRO operations, intensifying competition within the sector.
GE Aerospace’s engagement in Poland extends beyond this facility. The company maintains a longstanding presence in the country, supplying engines for various aircraft and helicopters operated by the Polish Air Force. Earlier this year, GE secured a contract to deliver 210 T700 engines for Poland’s fleet of 96 Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian helicopters, further solidifying its footprint in the region.
GE’s Market Performance and Industry Outlook
GE Aerospace currently holds a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), reflecting strong momentum across both commercial and defense sectors. The company benefits from a growing installed base and increased utilization of its engine platforms, supported by rising global defense budgets, robust demand for air travel, and favorable industry dynamics. Over the past three months, GE shares have surged 22.1%, significantly outperforming the industry’s 4.1% growth.
Other aviation companies are also attracting investor interest. Frontier Group Holdings, Inc. (ULCC) holds a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), with a four-quarter average earnings surprise of 1.1% and a 42.2% increase in 2025 earnings estimates over the past 60 days. SkyWest, Inc. (SKYW) also carries a Zacks Rank #1, delivering a 17.6% average earnings surprise and a 7.7% rise in 2025 earnings estimates. Ryanair Holdings plc (RYAAY) maintains a Zacks Rank #2, with a 44.5% average earnings surprise and a 4.4% increase in fiscal 2025 earnings estimates.
As GE Aerospace expands its presence in Poland, the company is well positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for engine maintenance services while navigating competitive pressures and evolving market dynamics.
