Rolls-Royce and Aeroflot have jointly celebrated a landmark achievement in aviation engineering, as one of Aeroflot’s Trent 700 engines surpassed 50,000 flying hours without requiring an overhaul. This milestone represents a world first for any widebody aircraft engine, underscoring exceptional durability and reliability in commercial aviation. Since entering service in 2008, the engine has powered an Airbus A330 within Aeroflot’s fleet, accumulating operational hours equivalent to circling the globe over 1,000 times and operating continuously for more than five years. To contextualize this feat, the engine’s total mileage corresponds to approximately 2,000 typical family car services or a journey to the moon and back 50 times.
The Trent engine family, which debuted with the Trent 700 in 1995 and now comprises seven variants, has collectively amassed over 125 million engine flying hours. The latest iteration, the Trent 7000, entered service in November of the previous year, continuing the legacy of innovation and performance established by its predecessors.
