Airbus Deliveries Decline 4% in May

Airbus Delivery Performance in May
Airbus delivered approximately 51 aircraft in May, representing a 4 percent decline compared to the same month last year, according to industry sources. This brings the total deliveries for the first five months of 2024 to around 243 planes, marking a 5 percent decrease from the corresponding period in 2023. The company has not provided comments ahead of its scheduled monthly performance report on June 5. Despite these setbacks, Airbus remains committed to its target of increasing deliveries by 7 percent this year, aiming to reach a total of 820 aircraft handed over to customers.
Ongoing Industry Challenges and Supply Chain Issues
The annual gathering of airlines in New Delhi this week highlighted growing frustrations with persistent supply chain disruptions that have affected manufacturers since the onset of the pandemic. Airlines voiced concerns over delays that continue to impact fleet expansion and operational planning. Airbus has acknowledged these challenges, attributing part of the delivery delays to slow engine shipments. The manufacturer anticipates that these issues will begin to stabilize over the summer months, potentially easing pressure on production and delivery schedules.
