TBO Extension Expands STC Coverage to Citation Bravo and Encore PW530/535 Engines
Pompano Beach, FL, Oct. 8, 2025 – TBO Extension, a subsidiary of Atlantic Jet Partners and a prominent provider of FAA-certified engine time interval extension programs, has announced the expansion of its Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to include the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW530A and PW535A engines. These engines power the Cessna Citation Bravo and Citation Encore, representing a significant advancement for business aviation operators seeking to extend engine life while reducing operational costs.
The expanded program will be officially unveiled at the 2025 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas (Booth #3775) from October 14 to 16. TBO Extension’s STC has already been successfully installed on over 200 JT15D engines, delivering more than 2,000 additional flight hours per engine and providing a cost-effective alternative to traditional OEM overhauls. With the inclusion of the PW530/535 engines, Citation Bravo and Encore operators can now extend engine life by up to 2,500 hours using the same validated methodology.
Cost and Downtime Benefits
Engine overhauls for these aircraft typically involve expenditures ranging from $3 million to $4 million and require downtime of six to nine months. The new TBO Extension STC for PW530/535 engines offers a markedly more efficient alternative, with total costs estimated between $1 million and $1.5 million for both engines, including Hot Section Inspection (HSI). The turnaround time is significantly reduced to four to six weeks, while the service life extension reaches up to 2,500 hours. This approach not only lowers direct maintenance costs and minimizes aircraft downtime but also enhances the residual value of the aircraft.
Industry Context and Market Implications
This expansion aligns with a broader industry trend toward technological upgrades in business aviation, exemplified by recent STC approvals such as the Citation Latitude Starlink upgrade and the King Air 350C ISR configuration. These developments underscore the increasing demand for innovative solutions that enhance aircraft utility and value.
Nonetheless, TBO Extension faces challenges in ensuring seamless integration with existing aircraft systems and navigating complex regulatory requirements as the program is implemented. The company anticipates strong interest from operators seeking advanced engine solutions, while competitors may accelerate their own STC developments to maintain market competitiveness.
Early Access and Pre-Launch Incentives
Prior to the official FAA STC issuance, expected in January or February 2026, TBO Extension is offering a limited pre-launch pricing program. Operators who commit by November 1, 2025, and place a deposit before December 31, 2025, will benefit from priority installation scheduling and reduced pricing.
“For more than a decade, we’ve demonstrated to JT15D operators that there is a smarter, FAA-certified alternative to the traditional overhaul cycle,” said Jim Clifford, Vice President of Product Development at TBO Extension. “With the new PW530/535 STC, we are extending that same proven advantage to Citation Bravo and Encore operators—delivering lower costs, faster turnaround, and increased asset value.”
