Astana to stage first electric air taxi demonstration flight

Astana to Host First Electric Air Taxi Demonstration Flight
On July 24, Astana will stage its inaugural demonstration flight of an electric air taxi, marking a significant milestone in Kazakhstan’s pursuit of advanced air mobility solutions. The event is set to take place at the Kazanat Hippodrome and will showcase the AutoFlight Prosperity, an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. According to reports from Caliber.Az, citing Kazakh media, the aircraft is engineered to accommodate one pilot and up to five passengers, with a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour and a range of 200 kilometers.
Advancing Kazakhstan’s eVTOL Ambitions
The demonstration flight is scheduled to commence at 09:00 local time, although organisers have noted that the timing may be adjusted depending on weather conditions. This event follows Kazakhstan’s recent strides in the eVTOL sector, including the country’s first demonstration flights held in Alatau in May 2026. Furthermore, in June, Kazakhstan implemented legislation regulating air taxis, eVTOL aircraft, and unmanned aviation, establishing a legal framework to support the development and integration of these emerging technologies into the national transportation infrastructure.
