Bucharest-Based DesignVerse Secures €4.6 Million in Seed Funding Following EUROCONTROL Software Upgrade
AI-Driven Innovation in Enterprise Software
DesignVerse, a Bucharest-based startup specialising in modernising aviation infrastructure software across Europe, has successfully raised over €4.6 million ($5.5 million) in seed funding. The investment round attracted participation from Begin Capital, Gapminder VC, Underline Ventures, and prominent angel investors affiliated with companies such as Adobe, LSEG, and UiPath. Founded in 2024 by Andrei Manolache and Robert Dragutoiu, DesignVerse utilises artificial intelligence to streamline the development of complex enterprise software by enabling organisations to generate functional applications directly from their design systems. This approach ensures consistency and significantly reduces the manual effort traditionally required to translate design concepts into production-ready code.
CEO Andrei Manolache emphasised the inefficiencies faced by large organisations, stating, “Large organisations still lose enormous amounts of time translating design work into production software. DesignVerse removes that friction entirely, allowing teams to generate enterprise applications directly from their design systems and validate behaviour instantly with business stakeholders.” The company’s technology integrates seamlessly with clients’ existing design systems, architecture patterns, and business logic, addressing common challenges such as drift, fragmentation, and redundant implementation. By anchoring its AI models in each customer’s technical documentation and component libraries, DesignVerse delivers software that aligns with both current and target architectures across front-end and back-end technologies.
Early Adoption and Market Impact
DesignVerse’s platform is particularly suited for organisations managing complex legacy systems, including banks, cybersecurity firms, and government agencies. Among its early adopters is EUROCONTROL, the European air traffic management authority, which recently engaged DesignVerse to modernise a 15-year-old application. The project was completed in just over a month, a process that would have traditionally required an estimated six months. EUROCONTROL lauded the collaboration, noting, “Aviation is an industry where the innovation cycle is generally slower compared to others. Through our largest digital transformation programme to date, we are reshaping this paradigm. DesignVerse, through its AI platform, has supported us in modernising our software systems at an accelerated pace, without compromising reliability, safety, or security.”
The company has reported strong early traction, surpassing €930,000 ($1.1 million) in annual recurring revenue within less than five months of operation. This rapid growth underscores the demand for AI-driven solutions capable of addressing the complexities of legacy system modernisation.
Competitive Landscape and Future Prospects
DesignVerse’s substantial seed funding is poised to intensify competition within the enterprise software and compliance technology sectors. Rival firms may accelerate their own technological developments and refine market strategies in response. The influx of capital is also likely to attract increased scrutiny from industry stakeholders and could catalyse strategic partnerships or acquisitions as DesignVerse seeks to broaden its technological capabilities and market presence. Moving forward, the company will need to differentiate its offerings and establish a strong market position amid a rapidly evolving and competitive environment.
