UK-based Vertical Aerospace has chosen New York City as the site for the United States launch of its new commercial electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, Valo. This decision marks a significant milestone in the company’s ambition to advance electric air travel within one of the world’s most complex urban environments.
New York as a Strategic Testing Ground
For Vertical Aerospace, New York represents more than a high-profile promotional venue; it serves as a deliberate and challenging test case. The city’s dense population, chronic traffic congestion, and tightly regulated airspace create a demanding environment that tests the practical viability of eVTOL technology. Valo’s arrival in New York will be its first full-scale public display in the United States. On January 23, the aircraft will be exhibited at the Classic Car Club in Manhattan, where visitors can explore its cabin layout and design without the need for tickets. Stuart Simpson, CEO of Vertical Aerospace, emphasized the significance of the US tour, stating, “The US Valo tour builds on the momentum from our London unveiling and a year of strong execution across testing, partnerships, and certification. New York is a natural next step to explore how electric aviation could support urban and regional travel in the US, working with partners like Bristow and Skyports to keep safety, certification, and real-world operations at the core.”

New York’s persistent traffic congestion and high demand for premium, time-sensitive travel make it an attractive early market for eVTOL air taxis.
