Introduced in 2002, the aircraft featured an extended fuselage capable of accommodating nearly 400 passengers, achieved with only a modest increase in fuel consumption. These manufacturing setbacks highlight the evolving dynamics of the widebody market, as airlines weigh the proven reliability and efficiency of the 777-300ER against the potential benefits—and uncertainties—of newer aircraft models.
