Terma and Boeing have formalized their intent to collaborate on Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) support for Denmark’s prospective P-8 maritime patrol aircraft through a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Announced at this year’s DALO Industry Days, the agreement highlights the increasing significance of industrial partnerships in enhancing national defense capabilities and readiness.
Strengthening Denmark’s Defense Sustainment Capabilities
The MoU is designed to address Denmark’s operational needs while fostering long-term security and industrial development within the country. By focusing on the establishment of local MRO solutions, the initiative aims to improve resilience and self-sufficiency in defense sustainment. Thomas Flarup, Chief Commercial Officer at Terma, emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement, stating that it represents a key step toward reinforcing Denmark’s critical sustainment infrastructure. He noted that robust MRO capabilities are vital to maintaining the operational availability of essential assets such as the P-8. Should the Danish Defense opt to acquire the P-8 as a new military platform, Terma is prepared to provide comprehensive support. The collaboration with Boeing not only strengthens an existing partnership but also aligns industrial capabilities to bolster national resilience.
Boeing underscored its longstanding relationship with Terma, which has spanned over a decade and included projects like the Harpoon Missile Simulator. Maria Laine, president of Boeing United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Nordics, remarked that Terma has been a consistent supplier to Boeing’s P-8 program. She highlighted that the MoU reinforces their shared commitment to building a more capable and sovereign defense industrial base. Laine expressed pride in partnering with Denmark’s largest defense company to enhance fleet support capabilities, contingent on Denmark’s selection of the P-8 for its maritime patrol requirements.
