Buffalo River Aviation Adds Sovereign Aircraft for Charter Services

Buffalo River Aviation Expands Charter Fleet with Citation Sovereign
Buffalo River Aircraft Services has enhanced its charter capabilities through the addition of a Citation Sovereign, now available for charter operations under the Part 135 certificate of its partner, JetTech. The aircraft, a 16.8-year-old jet registered as N507GC (msn 680-0239), is configured to accommodate up to nine passengers and is based in Bentonville, Arkansas. Originally registered as N636BC and operated by Buffalo River Aviation since December 2024, the jet was re-registered under its current designation on June 28.
Partnership and Fleet Integration
As a non-certified operator, Buffalo River Aviation relies on JetTech’s Part 135 certification to manage the Sovereign, marking the first aircraft of this type within JetTech’s fleet. JetTech also operates a Citation Jet 3+ and a King Air F90 on behalf of Buffalo River Aviation. Beyond these, JetTech’s broader Part 135 fleet includes a Premier IA, introduced earlier this year, and a King Air B200, although neither is currently listed on Buffalo River Aviation’s website.
The introduction of the Citation Sovereign represents a significant milestone for Buffalo River Aviation, as it is the company’s first mid-size jet available for charter. This addition broadens the company’s service portfolio beyond its existing aircraft management operations, which include a PC-12, a Beech 58 twin piston, a King Air C90, a King Air B200, and a Cessna 182 single piston. Notably, these aircraft are not Part 135-certified and operate under the company’s ‘OFT’ code.
Market Context and Industry Challenges
This strategic expansion occurs amid evolving regulatory and market pressures within the private aviation sector. Buffalo River Aviation’s move into mid-size jet charter services with the Citation Sovereign may face challenges related to regulatory compliance, particularly concerning privacy regulations that could impact aircraft transactions. The competitive environment is intensifying, with operators such as Falcon Luxe recently expanding their UAE-based fleet by adding a Gulfstream G450, signaling heightened competition in the mid-size and large jet segments.
Industry players are responding to these shifts with significant strategic initiatives. Flexjet, for example, recently secured $800 million in equity funding to support growth in private jet services. Meanwhile, companies like Volato are recalibrating their business models, exemplified by the divestment of GC Aviation to concentrate on platform-based operations. These developments are poised to influence market dynamics and competitive positioning across the sector.
By introducing the Citation Sovereign to its charter offerings, Buffalo River Aviation aims to address growing demand for mid-size jet charters while navigating a complex and rapidly evolving regulatory and competitive landscape.
