The airline argues that shielding any single company from competition ultimately harms the broader market. In response, Serbia’s Ministry for Construction, Transport and Infrastructure stated, “There is no intention to ‘force’ Wizz Air out of Serbia or to restrict its, or any other EU carrier’s, right to operate services, either in terms of routes or frequencies.” However, the Ministry noted that Wizz Air’s Belgrade base conflicts with the Multilateral Agreement on the Establishment of a European Common Aviation Area. As the dispute persists, the future of Wizz Air’s Belgrade base—and the wider Serbian aviation market—remains uncertain.
