MRO Central Asia Conference Scheduled for Uzbekistan in 2026

MRO Central Asia Conference Scheduled for Uzbekistan in 2026
Uzbekistan’s Aviation Sector Reforms and Strategic Vision
The Republic of Uzbekistan is undertaking significant reforms in its civil aviation sector, driven by a recent Presidential Decree aimed at enhancing airport infrastructure and modernizing operations. These initiatives are closely linked to the upcoming MRO Central Asia Conference Uzbekistan 2026, an international event designed to bolster maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities throughout the region.
The decree mandates the Presidential Administration to appoint new executive leadership for the national airport network and to develop a comprehensive business plan for airport modernization and expansion by April 1, 2026. This plan envisions a 2.3-fold increase in flight frequency, the attraction of up to 25 international carriers, and the implementation of advanced logistical and operational processes. Collectively, these measures seek to elevate Uzbekistan’s position within the global aviation market and establish the country as a key regional hub.
Industry Challenges and Regional Competition
Despite these ambitious goals, Uzbekistan’s emergence as a regional aviation center faces several industry-wide challenges. Experts anticipate that workforce shortages, supply chain disruptions, and intensifying competition—particularly from the Middle East—will significantly influence the MRO landscape in 2026. The Middle East is expected to maintain dominance in the widebody MRO market, driving increased demand for new engine maintenance capabilities and expanded service capacity.
In this competitive environment, market participants are accelerating strategic investments to secure their positions. For instance, RTX recently committed $139 million to develop aircraft MRO facilities in Singapore, highlighting the growing competition within the Asian aviation aftermarket. This trend underscores the urgency for Uzbekistan to expedite its own MRO development efforts and to cultivate international partnerships that can support its ambitions.
As Uzbekistan prepares to host the MRO Central Asia Conference, the interplay between its national reforms and shifting global market dynamics will be pivotal in defining the country’s future role in the aviation sector.
