Syensqo Celebrates Two-Year Partnership with Climate Impulse
Syensqo marks the second anniversary of its strategic collaboration with Climate Impulse, the groundbreaking initiative led by explorers Bertrand Piccard and Raphaël Dinelli. The project aims to accomplish the world’s first non-stop, zero-emission, round-the-world flight powered entirely by green hydrogen. This partnership has reached a pivotal milestone with Syensqo’s Aquivion® ion-exchange polymer now confirmed as a critical component in the fuel cell membrane electrode assembly, enhancing the aircraft’s range and overall performance.
Advancing Hydrogen-Powered Aviation
The aircraft’s major structural components—including the wings, cockpit, and fuselage—are being manufactured using Syensqo’s advanced composite materials at their facility in Les Sables d’Olonne, France. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with initial test flights planned in Châteauroux, France. As the primary technology partner, Syensqo contributes its expertise in advanced materials, application engineering, and system-level co-development, focusing on solutions tailored to the rigorous demands of hydrogen-powered aviation.
Syensqo’s green hydrogen laboratory in Bollate, Italy, plays a vital role in supporting research, testing, and validation throughout the hydrogen value chain.
