Kaszek Ventures Invests in TravelX’s Aviation AI Platform
Kaszek Ventures, a leading venture capital firm in Latin America, has made a strategic investment in TravelX, an artificial intelligence-driven platform specializing in post-booking revenue management for airlines. This latest funding round brings TravelX’s total capital raised to $45 million and represents Kaszek’s inaugural venture into the aviation technology sector. The move highlights increasing confidence in AI as a transformative tool for optimizing airline revenue streams.
Transforming Airline Revenue Management
TravelX was founded by CTO Pablo Santillan, CEO Juan Pablo Lafosse, and COO Francisco Vigo with the goal of revolutionizing how airlines manage inventory after ticket sales. Traditionally, airline inventory has remained fixed once a booking is confirmed, limiting carriers’ ability to respond to fluctuating demand, operational disruptions, and evolving customer preferences. TravelX’s AI-native platform continuously analyzes real-time operational data, customer behavior, and network demand, enabling airlines to make dynamic inventory decisions throughout the customer journey. This innovative approach aims to maximize profitability, enhance operational efficiency, and improve passenger satisfaction.
Nicolas Berman, Partner at Kaszek, emphasized the potential impact of the technology, stating, “With artificial intelligence reshaping every major industry, aviation stands out as a high-potential market for disruption. TravelX’s platform has the potential to fundamentally change how airlines monetize inventory and serve travelers. We’re excited to support their vision for the future of airline commerce.”
The Series A financing round, which also included participation from Thayer Ventures, will accelerate TravelX’s product development, expand its AI capabilities, and strengthen its global commercial footprint. The company currently collaborates with several innovative airlines, including Viva, Volaris, AirAsia, WestJet, GOL, Scoot, and Cebu Pacific, with additional global deployments underway.
Navigating AI Market Volatility
Kaszek’s investment arrives amid heightened scrutiny and volatility in the AI sector. Fitch Ratings recently warned of a potential market correction in AI, citing uncertainties regarding the technology’s revenue potential and the broader credit market’s exposure to related risks. While some travel industry leaders such as Booking Holdings and Airbnb have reported positive returns and cost efficiencies from AI initiatives, others like Sabre and Amadeus continue to invest heavily without disclosing specific financial outcomes. This mixed response reflects both optimism and skepticism about AI’s value in the travel industry. Industry figures such as Amex GBT’s Evan Konwiser have underscored the importance of building trust in AI-driven recommendations.
The recent sell-off of Leopold Aschenbrenner’s Situational Awareness fund, following AI-related losses, further illustrates the unpredictable nature of investments in this space. As airlines and technology providers navigate this evolving landscape, the challenge remains to demonstrate tangible value and foster confidence in AI-powered solutions.
Juan Pablo Lafosse, CEO of TravelX, highlighted the company’s vision: “For decades, airlines have focused on optimizing the moment a ticket is sold, but we’ve shown there are significant untapped revenue opportunities after booking. AI enables airlines to continuously adapt to changing conditions, transforming static inventory into a dynamic commercial asset. We’re proud to have Kaszek’s support as we build the future of airline commerce.”
