TAT Expands Partnership with Honeywell on APU

TAT Expands Partnership with Honeywell on APU
Sole Global Distributor for 331-200/250 APU Parts
TAT Technologies has significantly expanded its partnership with Honeywell Aerospace by becoming the sole global authorised distributor for spare parts on the 331-200/250 auxiliary power unit (APU) platform. This enhanced agreement also extends TAT’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) licenses for the platform through 2036. Additionally, TAT has acquired three Honeywell 131-9A APUs to support its trading and leasing operations, further solidifying its position in the aftermarket sector.
This development establishes TAT as a single-source provider for both aftermarket parts and MRO services related to the 331-200/250 APU. The company aims to simplify maintenance planning for operators, lessors, and maintenance providers by reducing the complexity of supplier coordination and accelerating aircraft return-to-service timelines. According to Igal Zamir, TAT’s Chief Executive and President, the partnership with Honeywell Aerospace is one of the most significant in the company’s history. He emphasized that combining exclusive parts distribution with TAT’s established MRO capabilities will enable comprehensive support for the platform throughout its operational lifecycle.
Strategic Context and Industry Implications
The expanded collaboration comes as Honeywell Aerospace intensifies efforts to reinforce its supply chain resilience following the disruptions experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the agreement is designed to enhance reliability and efficiency for customers, both companies remain mindful of ongoing global supply chain volatility that could pose challenges.
Market analysts view the deal as a strategic alignment with Honeywell’s broader objectives to strengthen its portfolio through partnerships that drive revenue growth. Honeywell’s recent transition into a pure-play automation company, alongside its increased focus on defense and space markets, is expected to bolster its competitive position. Industry observers note that while competitor responses may vary, Honeywell’s emphasis on supply chain robustness and strategic collaborations could provide a distinct advantage.
For TAT, the agreement not only expands its footprint within the global community of operators using the Honeywell 331-200/250 APU platform but also reinforces its role as a key player in the aftermarket and MRO sectors. The company anticipates that consolidating parts supply and repair support under a single organisation will deliver clear benefits to customers, streamlining service and support for this critical aircraft component.
