The SITA Passenger IT Insights 2025 survey, which collected responses from over 7,500 travelers across 25 countries, underscores an increasing demand for air travel experiences that are simple, reliable, and sustainable. Changing Passenger Expectations and Digital Adoption The report highlights that digital-first generations are now the primary drivers of growth within the aviation industry, with clear preferences for shorter wait times, seamless intermodal connections, and real-time travel updates accessible via mobile devices. Since 2020, mobile usage for managing travel has increased by 20 percentage points, and nearly two-thirds of passengers express a desire for faster airport processing. Furthermore, 42% of respondents favor a unified ticketing system that integrates air, rail, and road travel. SITA emphasizes that these insights reflect the authentic experiences of travelers who expect air travel to keep pace with their digitally integrated lifestyles. While passengers routinely manage finances, health, and mobility through their smartphones, air travel processes often remain cumbersome, involving queues and paperwork. David Lavorel, SITA’s CEO, remarked, “Travelers aren’t resisting change. They’ve already changed. They’ve gone digital. Now it’s our turn. The future of travel isn’t just about adding tech.
