Celebi Aviation Reduces Air Waybill Processing Time by 75% Using AI

Celebi Aviation Cuts Air Waybill Processing Time by 75% with AI Integration
Turkish ground handling company Celebi Aviation has achieved a remarkable 75% reduction in air waybill processing time through the adoption of CHAMP Cargosystems’ AI-powered solution, CHAMP A2Z Scan. This innovative system automates the conversion of paper air waybills and associated documents into digital formats, reducing manual data entry and verification from approximately three minutes to just 45 seconds. The implementation marks a significant step forward in operational efficiency for the company.
Advancing Digitisation and Operational Efficiency
CHAMP A2Z Scan represents CHAMP Cargosystems’ first fully AI-based product, designed to capture data and automatically populate Celebi’s cargo management system, including its proprietary platform. By transitioning to AI-driven digitisation, Celebi aims to streamline its workflows, lower operational costs, and minimise errors that frequently arise from manual handling of paper documents. This technological advancement aligns with a broader industry movement towards integrating artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and optimise logistics operations.
Recent industry reports from Aviation Week and Inbound Logistics highlight the increasing role of AI in transforming aviation and cargo handling sectors. As companies like Celebi rapidly adopt these technologies, competitive pressures are likely to prompt wider AI integration across the industry. However, the process of embedding new AI systems within existing infrastructure is not without challenges. Ensuring data accuracy, maintaining seamless system compatibility, and securing sustained operational benefits remain critical concerns.
To address these challenges, Celebi has engaged in close collaboration with CHAMP, focusing on staff training and tailoring the AI solution to meet specific operational requirements. This proactive approach is intended to facilitate a smooth transition and maximise the benefits of the new technology.
Industry Perspectives and Future Outlook
Lucas Fernandez, vice president of innovation and insight at CHAMP, commended the partnership, stating, “It’s fantastic to see Celebi’s enthusiasm and commitment to digitalisation, and their impressive results in leveraging the tool. I look forward to seeing their continued success using innovative software solutions.” Similarly, Ahmet Balakci, IT manager at Celebi, expressed optimism about the impact of the technology: “We are excited by the impressive results we are seeing through CHAMP A2Z Scan, and the operational efficiencies we have unlocked by leveraging intelligent technology. It has been a pleasure working alongside CHAMP to explore the possibilities CHAMP A2Z Scan holds for our operations, and we look forward to continued digitalisation and optimisation.”
This development coincides with recent leadership changes at CHAMP Cargosystems, which appointed Manuel Galindo as its new chief executive, succeeding Chris McDermott. As Celebi and other industry players continue to invest in AI-driven solutions, the air cargo sector is poised for further transformation, with digital innovation and efficiency gains remaining central to its evolution.
