United Cargo Partners with CargoAi for Digital Transformation

United Cargo Partners with CargoAi to Accelerate Digital Transformation in Airfreight
United Cargo, the airfreight division of United Airlines, has entered into a strategic partnership with CargoAi, a leading digital enabler in the air cargo industry. This collaboration represents a significant step in United Cargo’s ongoing initiative to modernize air logistics and enhance the digital experience for its global customer base.
Expanding Digital Access and Capabilities
Through this integration, United Cargo’s domestic and international capacity is now accessible via CargoAi’s digital platform, providing over 23,000 freight forwarders with real-time access to rates, bookable capacity, and a streamlined electronic booking process. The partnership encompasses a wide range of products, including General Cargo (GCR), Express, and Perishables (PER) shipments without temperature control. This enables freight forwarders to secure shipments with increased speed and transparency.
The integration covers key markets such as the United States—including domestic services—Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Italy. By expanding digital access across these regions, the partnership enhances freight forwarders’ agility within United Cargo’s extensive global network. It also strengthens the airline’s capacity to deliver a consistent and seamless booking experience for both international and domestic shipments.
Strategic Vision and Industry Implications
Matthieu Petot, CEO of CargoAi, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating, “United Cargo’s decision to join the CargoAi ecosystem reflects a shared vision for the future of air cargo—one where digital connectivity, automation, and collaboration define how airlines and forwarders work together. By combining United Cargo’s global reach with our technology, we are building a foundation for a more agile, transparent, and customer-centric airfreight industry, ready to meet the demands of tomorrow’s supply chains.”
While the partnership is expected to advance United Cargo’s digital transformation strategy and reinforce its commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions, it also presents potential challenges. Internally, United Cargo may encounter resistance to change, integration complexities with existing systems, and the ongoing imperative to maintain robust data security. Externally, the move could provoke skepticism among competitors, who may view the partnership as a threat to their market positions. Industry analysts anticipate that rival carriers might respond by accelerating their own digital transformation efforts or investing in advanced technological capabilities to sustain competitiveness.
Within the broader airfreight industry, successful digital transformation depends on aligning technology initiatives with core business objectives, launching impactful pilot projects, and utilizing subscription-based SaaS models to manage costs effectively.
For CargoAi, this partnership expands its airline portfolio and enhances its platform’s product offerings, further establishing its position as a leading digital enabler in the air cargo sector. United Cargo’s presence on CargoAi’s platform opens new opportunities for freight forwarders, particularly in domestic U.S. shipments and high-speed express cargo solutions, as the industry continues to evolve toward greater digital connectivity and operational efficiency.
