Freight Drives Aramex Growth as Aviation and MRO Support Agility and Abu Dhabi Aviation
Abu Dhabi Aviation’s Earnings Boosted by MRO Activity
Abu Dhabi Aviation reported a 6.6% year-on-year increase in net income to AED 420.6 million for the first half of 2026, alongside a 28.3% rise in revenue to AED 4.7 billion. This growth was primarily driven by a surge in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities, which saw revenue climb 30.6% and accounted for nearly 90% of the group’s total revenue. The increase was supported by sustained fleet-support demand at Gulf Aircraft Leasing (GAL) and the expansion of Ammroc’s contracted programs. Additionally, General Aviation revenue grew 7.6% to AED 509.9 million, bolstered by stronger cargo operations at Maximus Air.
However, the results included a significant one-off settlement related to an Ammroc legacy contract, which contributed AED 364 million to revenue and AED 102 million to net income—representing nearly a quarter of the total earnings. When excluding this settlement, underlying earnings fell below the previous year’s levels. This decline reflected a higher proportion of contracted MRO work, reduced contributions from equity-accounted investees, and increased depreciation expenses following investments in fleet and facilities.
Aramex Achieves Record Revenue on Freight Forwarding Surge
Aramex delivered its highest-ever quarterly revenue in the second quarter of 2026, with group revenue rising 22% year-on-year to AED 1.83 billion. Net income increased substantially to AED 47.4 million from AED 9.3 million in the same period last year. The company’s growth was underpinned by strong customer demand, disciplined pricing strategies, and a diversified multimodal service offering. Despite regional disruptions, Aramex’s flexible operating model and extensive network enabled it to maintain high service standards. The company successfully activated alternative Europe-Middle East land routes and expanded air and sea charter capacity to ensure uninterrupted freight movement.
This positive momentum continued into the first half of the year, with revenue increasing 12% to AED 3.43 billion. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) rose 46% to AED 139 million, while net profit nearly doubled to AED 64 million. The freight forwarding division recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue, Domestic Express sustained growth, and international express volumes stabilized after previous declines. Aramex’s strong performance indicates potential market share gains and may prompt competitors to adjust their strategies, although no direct market reactions were disclosed.
Agility Global Reports Robust Growth in Aviation and Fuel Logistics
Agility Global posted a 32% year-on-year increase in net income to USD 57.8 million for the second quarter of 2026, with revenue rising 26% to USD 1.5 billion. Menzies Aviation was a key contributor, delivering a 31% revenue increase to USD 908 million, supported by contributions from G2, new contracts, and improved yields. Aircraft turns rose by approximately 8%, while cargo volumes increased by 7%. Tristar’s revenues grew 22%, driven by a stronger fuel business, and Agility Logistics Parks experienced a 47% revenue increase as new facilities became operational.
For the first half of 2026, Agility Global’s net income rose 30% to USD 97.5 million, with revenues up 25% to nearly USD 3 billion. Aviation services revenue increased 33% to USD 1.8 billion, and fuel logistics revenue grew 16% to USD 797.2 million, highlighting broad-based growth across the group’s core segments.
