LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B has launched an innovative addition to its passenger services: an AI-powered hologram ambassador named Bridget. Developed through a collaboration between LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP), Proto, and Holomedia, Bridget represents a significant advancement in airport technology aimed at improving wayfinding and overall traveler assistance.
Enhancing Passenger Experience with Advanced Technology
Unlike previous airport holograms that were primarily used for entertainment or static greetings, Bridget is a fully interactive, life-size figure capable of engaging travelers in natural, intuitive conversations. Located near the Terminal B Food Hall, the hologram provides real-time, multilingual navigation support, assisting passengers in locating gates, shops, lounges, and baggage claim areas. Plans are underway to deploy additional units across the terminal’s two concourses, expanding the reach of this technology.
Suzette Noble, CEO of LaGuardia Gateway Partners, emphasized the airport’s commitment to innovation and hospitality, stating that the introduction of Bridget aligns with their goal to deliver an exceptional guest experience. By integrating next-generation technology, the airport aims to meet the evolving needs of travelers, offering an additional layer of intelligent, multilingual support to ensure a seamless and stress-free journey.
Features and Operational Integration
Bridget currently communicates in English and Spanish, with further languages to be added, enhancing accessibility for a diverse passenger base. The hologram offers live mapping and step-by-step directions to facilitate efficient navigation throughout the terminal. Designed with accessibility in mind, Bridget incorporates high-contrast displays, closed captioning, and a wheelchair-accessible interface. During peak travel periods, the hologram serves as a reliable resource, maintaining consistent communication even when human staff are occupied.
Importantly, Bridget is intended to complement rather than replace the existing team of human Guest Experience Ambassadors, extending their capabilities and ensuring consistent service delivery. While initial reactions to the hologram have been positive, its long-term success will depend on sustained passenger engagement and the seamless integration of the technology with existing airport infrastructure—a challenge that LGP acknowledges and is actively addressing.
