Liebherr Expands Partnership with Röder Präzision for Landing Gear Overhaul

Liebherr Expands Partnership with Röder Präzision for Embraer E-Jet E1 Landing Gear Overhaul
Lindenberg, Germany – Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH and Röder Präzision GmbH have announced an expansion of their collaboration in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of landing gear for the Embraer E-Jet E1 program. Building on Röder Präzision’s existing role in servicing nose landing gear components, the new agreement entrusts the company with the overhaul of structural components of the main landing gear. This development marks a significant deepening of the partnership between the two firms.
Investment and Operational Enhancements
To accommodate the increased responsibilities, Röder Präzision, headquartered in Egelsbach, has invested in advanced machinery and enhanced training programs for its specialized workforce. The company plans to accelerate the overhaul of structural components throughout 2026, aiming to meet the growing demands of the program efficiently.
Gerd Heinzelmann, Managing Director of Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, highlighted the strategic advantages of the partnership, stating, “A cooperation like this is a win-win situation for everyone involved: we’re already close partners, who support each other. It’s important to cover global needs that are sure to arise in the near future. The overhaul is carried out domestically with short delivery routes and we can therefore offer our customers greater capacities and faster turnaround times.” Under the terms of the agreement, Liebherr-Aerospace’s Lindenberg facility will continue to manage the disassembly, assembly, testing, and certification of landing gears, while Röder Präzision will focus on the overhaul of individual parts.
Bastian Heberer, CEO of the Röder Group, emphasized the foundation of trust underpinning the collaboration. He remarked, “The continued development of our cooperation with Liebherr-Aerospace is built on a long-standing, trust-based partnership. Through targeted investments in machinery and the ongoing qualification of our highly skilled employees, we are further strengthening our contribution as a reliable MRO partner and supporting Liebherr in delivering stable capacities, high quality and short turnaround times for the Embraer E-Jet E1 program.”
Market Context and Competitive Landscape
The expansion of this partnership occurs amid intensifying competition within the global MRO sector. The Adani Group’s recent foray into engine overhaul services and its broader expansion into the MRO market are expected to increase competitive pressures. Industry analysts foresee heightened scrutiny on pricing and service quality as companies strive to maintain or grow their market share. Adani’s integrated MRO platform may compel competitors, including Liebherr and Röder Präzision, to further enhance their service offerings to remain competitive.
Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg serves as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the Embraer E1 generation landing gear systems, supported by a comprehensive and robust supply chain.
