UMS Integration Reports 89% Profit Increase in Q2 Driven by AI and Aviation Growth
UMS Integration (UMS), a mainboard-listed manufacturer of precision components, announced an 89% increase in net profit to S$19.4 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026. This surge was propelled by strong growth in its semiconductor and aerospace divisions. Revenue for the quarter rose 29% to S$87.1 million, benefiting from the ongoing artificial intelligence (AI) “super-cycle” and a sustained global aviation boom.
For the first half of the year, UMS reported a 66% rise in net profit to S$33.4 million, alongside a 25% increase in revenue to S$156.5 million compared to the same period in 2025. Earnings per share improved to S$0.0376 from S$0.0283. The board declared a second interim dividend of S$0.01 per share, bringing the total dividend for the half-year to S$0.02 per share.
Strong Performance Across Segments and Markets
UMS attributed its robust results to higher sales and profitability in its core sectors. The semiconductor segment recorded a 25% revenue increase to S$134.5 million over six months, while the aerospace division experienced a 37% jump to S$15.8 million. Geographically, revenue growth was broad-based: Singapore rose 18% to S$92.7 million, Malaysia surged 50% to S$26 million, and South Korea saw a remarkable 317% increase to S$9.9 million.
CEO Andy Luong remarked, “The group delivered a stellar performance in Q2 2026, with both our key semiconductor and aerospace businesses delivering outstanding results on the back of the strong artificial intelligence ‘super-cycle’ and sustained aviation boom worldwide.”
Market Outlook and Industry Dynamics
Looking forward, UMS remains optimistic about sustaining its growth trajectory. Luong highlighted that the current results do not yet fully reflect contributions from several new manufacturing services under development, which are progressing through customer qualification stages. He added that key customers have provided strong forecasts for equipment demand extending several years ahead.
Major clients anticipate robust demand through 2026 and 2027, with one describing the semiconductor industry as experiencing its strongest period ever, driven by AI-powered computing needs and long-term growth prospects. In the aerospace sector, demand for air travel remains resilient despite geopolitical tensions, supported by ongoing backlogs at major aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing.
Opportunities and Challenges Ahead
UMS’s solid financial position and new production facilities in Malaysia and Vietnam position the company well to capitalize on emerging industry trends. Nevertheless, it faces challenges including intense competition from firms leveraging AI in aviation, regulatory complexities in adopting new aviation technologies, and the substantial initial investment costs associated with AI integration.
Market response to UMS’s results has been positive, with increased investor confidence and growing interest from aviation companies seeking AI solutions. Competitors are expected to accelerate research and development efforts, pursue strategic partnerships, and potentially adjust pricing strategies to protect profit margins.
