B&H Delivers Complex A330 Cockpit to New Zealand

B&H Worldwide Delivers Complex A330 Cockpit to New Zealand
B&H Worldwide has successfully completed a challenging logistics operation, transporting a decommissioned Airbus A330 cockpit from the United Kingdom to New Zealand for Pacific Simulators (PacSim). The cockpit will be transformed into an advanced A330 flight training device, enhancing PacSim’s global portfolio of tactile, fixed-base simulators.
Tailored Logistics for a Sensitive Cargo
The project required a fully customised, end-to-end logistics solution designed to meet PacSim’s specific technical and operational requirements. Due to the cockpit’s considerable size, sensitivity, and value, B&H Worldwide opted for sea freight as the most suitable mode of transport, balancing security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The operation commenced in West Sussex, where B&H’s UK team carefully collected and prepared the cockpit for international shipment. Specialist packing procedures were implemented at B&H’s secure Heathrow facility to ensure the protection of both the structure and its systems throughout the journey.
The shipment was routed through the Port of Southampton and closely monitored during its ocean voyage to New Zealand. Upon arrival in Christchurch, B&H’s local team managed customs clearance, coordinated delivery, and supervised unloading at an approved transitional facility, strictly adhering to New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) biosecurity regulations.
Navigating Industry Challenges Amid Aerospace Uncertainty
This successful delivery highlights B&H Worldwide’s expertise in managing complex, non-standard aerospace logistics projects, extending beyond its established time-critical aircraft-on-ground (AOG) services. The operation also demonstrates the company’s capacity to provide tailored logistics solutions through close international collaboration.
The project arrives amid a period of heightened uncertainty in the aerospace sector. Ongoing trade tensions have affected Airbus, with the company’s CEO recently warning of emerging risks following significant trade-related setbacks. These challenges have introduced caution into the market, particularly as Boeing continues to face difficulties in the narrowbody segment while Airbus maintains its dominance in single-aisle aircraft sales. In response, Boeing is striving to regain market share, whereas Airbus is focusing on cost reduction and innovation, as evidenced by the disruptive production changes introduced with the A321XLR.
For PacSim, a well-established manufacturer of EASA-, FAA-, and ICAO-compliant flight training devices, the arrival of the A330 cockpit represents a significant milestone in its strategy of integrating decommissioned aircraft components into high-fidelity simulator platforms. Despite broader industry headwinds, this project underscores the resilience and adaptability of aerospace logistics providers and manufacturers operating within a rapidly evolving global market.
