The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident, noting that the aircraft, carrying 275 passengers and 15 crew members, returned safely to Dulles. United Airlines is arranging for the continuation of the flight on a different aircraft, while the FAA has launched a formal investigation.
