Embraer Secures First Indian Forged Materials Supply Agreement with Bharat Forge
Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has formalized its inaugural contract with an Indian supplier for forged raw materials, partnering with Pune-based Bharat Forge Limited. Announced on Monday, the agreement designates Bharat Forge as a key supplier of forged products to support Embraer’s global supply chain. This marks a pivotal advancement in Embraer’s strategy to diversify its supplier base and enhance sourcing capabilities within India.
Strategic Importance and Industry Context
Although the financial terms and contract duration remain undisclosed, Embraer underscored India’s growing significance in its global procurement framework. Roberto Chaves, Executive Vice President of Global Procurement and Supply Chain at Embraer, stated that the contract reinforces the company’s commitment to establishing a more resilient and competitive supply chain, while simultaneously fostering the development of the Indian aerospace industry.
The agreement arrives amid mixed financial results for Bharat Forge. The company recently reported a 17.5% decline in net profit for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, despite a 17.53% year-on-year increase in revenue from operations. This contrast may shape market perceptions of the partnership, as investors balance the prospects of expanded aerospace manufacturing scale against recent profit challenges.
Amit B. Kalyani, Vice-Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, emphasized the strategic value of the deal, noting that it will enable the company to scale production of critical structural components. This expansion is expected to complement Bharat Forge’s existing capabilities in the aeroengine components sector, further solidifying its position in aerospace manufacturing.
Embraer’s Broader Supply Chain and Market Positioning
Embraer’s collaboration with Bharat Forge aligns with its broader efforts to strengthen its global supply chain and deepen its footprint in India across commercial aviation, defense, and industrial partnerships. The company has intensified engagement with local industry players and government stakeholders to build supply chain resilience amid ongoing global disruptions.
The aerospace sector is closely monitoring Embraer’s strategic moves, particularly as the company pursues new defense contracts in the Middle East and reports record financial performance. Embraer’s first-quarter revenue surged by 31%, driven by increased aircraft deliveries despite persistent supply chain pressures.
The agreement with Bharat Forge not only highlights Embraer’s dedication to cultivating a robust and diversified supplier network but also signals expanding opportunities for Indian manufacturers within the global aerospace industry.
