PAL orders nine more Airbus A350-1000s

Philippine Airlines Expands Airbus A350-1000 Fleet with New Order
At the Farnborough Air Show on 24 July 2026, Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for nine additional Airbus A350-1000 widebody aircraft. The agreement was formalized in the presence of key executives, including Lucio C. Tan III, President and Chief Operating Officer of PAL Holdings, Inc., Richard Nuttall, President of Philippine Airlines, Lars Wagner, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales at Airbus.
This new contract, once finalized, will double PAL’s total orders for the A350-1000 to 18 aircraft. The airline has already taken delivery of the first two units earlier this year. The A350-1000 has been designated as the carrier’s flagship aircraft, playing a central role in the expansion of its long-haul network. PAL plans to leverage the aircraft primarily to enhance non-stop services between Manila and key destinations in North America, including cities on the East Coast of the United States and Canada.
Fleet Configuration and Network Strategy
Philippine Airlines has specified a three-class cabin configuration for its A350-1000 fleet, designed to accommodate 382 passengers. The layout features 42 Business Class suites equipped with privacy doors and fully flat beds, 24 seats in a separate Premium Economy cabin, and 316 Economy Class seats. All cabins are outfitted with the latest in-flight entertainment systems and connectivity options, underscoring PAL’s commitment to passenger comfort and modern amenities.
Beyond the A350, PAL operates a diverse Airbus fleet across its full-service network. The airline utilizes A330-300 aircraft for routes to the Middle East, Australia, and various Asian destinations. Additionally, PAL’s domestic and regional services are supported by a fleet of A320 and A321 single-aisle aircraft.
As of June 2026, the Airbus A350 Family had secured 1,595 firm orders from 68 customers worldwide, cementing its status as one of the most successful widebody aircraft programs in aviation history.
