Rotax Aviation Industry Forum Scheduled for October in New Delhi
Expanding Pilot Training Sector Drives Industry Engagement
On October 6, 2026, Rotax, a leading aircraft engine manufacturer, will host the ROTAX Aviation Industry Forum India 2026 at The Roseate House Aerocity in New Delhi. The event is set to bring together a diverse range of stakeholders from the general aviation sector, aiming to strengthen connections between India’s rapidly expanding pilot training industry and international suppliers catering to the small-aircraft market.
India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has reported significant growth in pilot training infrastructure, with 41 Flying Training Organisations (FTOs) operating across 63 bases as of July 2026. In August, 11 additional FTOs received Letters of Intent to commence operations at seven Airports Authority of India locations, potentially increasing the country’s annual domestic pilot training capacity by 750 cadets. This expansion supports the Ministry’s projection that India will require between 30,000 and 40,000 new pilots over the next decade, following a 19% year-on-year rise in Commercial Pilot Licences issued in 2025.
Forum Focus and Industry Participation
The forum, commencing at 14:30, is designed to address the needs of FTOs, aircraft manufacturers, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) providers, aircraft owners, and other aviation industry participants. Alongside Rotax, companies such as CFS Aeroproducts and Flemonte Aviation will participate, emphasizing the small-aircraft and flight training ecosystem. Prominent global aviation partners including Tecnam, Pipistrel, Elixir Aircraft, Sling Aircraft, CSIR-NAL, and AutoGyro are also expected to attend. The agenda will facilitate in-depth discussions on aircraft acquisition, propulsion systems, maintenance, and operational support, providing Indian flight schools and operators with direct access to manufacturers and suppliers.
Navigating Opportunities and Challenges in India’s Aviation Landscape
The timing of the forum coincides with a dynamic period in India’s aviation sector, marked by both opportunities and challenges. The ongoing development of Delhi Noida International Airport may pose logistical and connectivity challenges for attendees and exhibitors. Furthermore, the broader market environment is influenced by regulatory debates concerning airfares and airline competition, reflecting trends seen in other markets such as Australia. Recent industry developments, including AirAsia X’s withdrawal from long-haul routes to India, may further impact market dynamics and competitive strategies.
Emerging segments such as seaplane operations, gaining momentum in India and the Philippines, are attracting increasing attention. This growth presents new opportunities and competitive pressures for operators and manufacturers within the general aviation and advanced air mobility sectors. The forum’s invitation extends to advanced air mobility companies, gyrocopter and recreational aviation operators, regulators, government officials, and other key stakeholders, underscoring the evolving nature of the industry.
As India’s pilot training capacity continues to expand and the aviation sector adapts to shifting market forces, the ROTAX Aviation Industry Forum India 2026 is positioned as a critical platform for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic planning among domestic and international aviation leaders.
