Østnes Helicopters Orders 10 Airbus H125s to Meet Nordic Demand

Østnes Helicopters Expands Airbus H125 Fleet to Address Nordic Market Demand
Cologne, Germany, 19 November 2025 – Østnes Helicopters, the official Airbus Helicopters distributor for the Nordic region, has placed a significant order for 10 additional Airbus H125 helicopters at the European Rotors event. This latest acquisition, combined with four H125s ordered earlier in 2025, brings the company’s total H125 orders for the year to 14 aircraft, reflecting strong and sustained demand across the Nordic countries.
Meeting Versatility and Availability Needs
Stine Østnes, Chief Sales Officer of Østnes Helicopters, highlighted the importance of the H125’s versatility in meeting diverse operational requirements. She noted that customers seek rotorcraft capable of handling a wide range of tasks, from long-line utility operations to passenger transport, and that the H125 fulfills these demands effectively. The new order is intended to maintain short delivery times and ensure optimal availability for clients in the region.
Thomas Hein, Head of Europe Region at Airbus Helicopters, affirmed the helicopter’s leading position in the Nordic market. He emphasized that the H125’s proven performance in challenging conditions underpins its popularity, with the 14 orders in 2025 reinforcing its status as the preferred choice for operators in the area.
Industry Challenges and Competitive Dynamics
The surge in orders coincides with ongoing challenges in the global aviation sector, including supply chain disruptions and shortages of critical components. These issues pose potential risks to delivery schedules and operational planning for both Østnes Helicopters and its customers. Additionally, the heightened demand in the Nordic market is intensifying competition among helicopter manufacturers, prompting rivals to increase marketing efforts and consider pricing strategies to protect their market shares.
Østnes Helicopters has solidified its presence in the regional rotorcraft market, having facilitated the sale of over 400 helicopters across new and pre-owned segments. Its maintenance division is certified to provide comprehensive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services for the H120, H125, and H130 models, while also offering dedicated support for the H145 through a team of certified technicians and avionics specialists.
Market Position and Broader Industry Context
Currently, more than 130 H125 helicopters operate within the Nordic countries, primarily engaged in utility and aerial work missions. Globally, the H125 family boasts a fleet exceeding 4,300 aircraft, frequently deployed in demanding environments. The model, part of the Ecureuil family, dominated the intermediate single-engine helicopter market in 2024 with a 73% share.
Airbus Helicopters’ expanding footprint in the rotary-wing sector is further exemplified by Morocco’s recent order of 10 H225M helicopters aimed at modernizing its fleet. Such developments may influence the competitive landscape for Østnes Helicopters as manufacturers compete for greater market penetration in both established and emerging regions.
As demand for adaptable rotorcraft continues to grow in the Nordic countries, Østnes Helicopters’ latest order positions the company to meet customer requirements promptly. Nevertheless, ongoing supply chain constraints and intensifying competition remain critical factors shaping the industry outlook in the near term.
