Daher Marks Delivery of 1,300th TBM Aircraft

Daher Celebrates Delivery of 1,300th TBM Aircraft Amid Expansion Efforts
Daher Aircraft has marked a significant milestone with the delivery of its 1,300th TBM single-engine turboprop, an achievement celebrated at this year’s Aero Friedrichshafen show. The latest addition to the fleet, the TBM 980, was unveiled alongside the Kodiak 900, underscoring Daher’s ongoing commitment to innovation in high-performance aircraft.
The landmark TBM 980 was delivered to a U.S. customer, bringing total shipments of this model to 13 since its launch in January. The first European delivery of the TBM 980 occurred in March. Since the TBM series entered service in 1990, the global fleet has accumulated more than 2.78 million flight hours, according to Daher’s chief executive, Nicolas Chabbert. He highlighted that nearly half of all deliveries stem from the TBM 900-series, introduced in 2014 and now in its sixth generation.
Advanced Features and Product Line Expansion
Powered by the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-66XT engine, the TBM 980 incorporates Garmin’s G3000 Prime avionics suite, featuring a touchscreen flight deck with three 14-inch displays. The aircraft also boasts enhanced cabin amenities, including USB-C sockets, upgraded passenger information displays, and Starlink-ready connectivity. Positioned alongside the entry-level TBM 960 variant, the TBM 980 complements Daher’s product range, which also includes the Kodiak family with its 100 and 900 models.
Production Challenges and Market Dynamics
As Daher celebrates this production milestone, the company faces the challenge of scaling up production to meet growing demand for the TBM 980 while maintaining efficiency and stringent quality control. The TBM 980’s debut at Aero Friedrichshafen is expected to stimulate market interest, potentially prompting competitors to intensify marketing efforts or adjust pricing strategies within the business aviation sector. Additionally, as deliveries increase, Daher may encounter heightened scrutiny from customers regarding the reliability and performance of the new model.
Following the Aero Friedrichshafen event, the Kodiak 900 will commence a six-week European tour designed to boost sales of this versatile, multi-mission aircraft. Chabbert emphasized the tour’s role in raising awareness of the Kodiak 900’s rugged capabilities. Designed for short take-off and landing operations, including from grass fields and unprepared strips, the Kodiak 900 is suited for regional, humanitarian, and multi-mission roles. Launched in 2022 as a larger and faster evolution of the Kodiak 100, the aircraft features a 1.18-meter fuselage stretch, a cruise speed of 210 knots (340 km/h), and a maximum range of approximately 1,130 nautical miles (2,090 km).
Looking ahead, Daher’s ability to navigate production challenges and respond effectively to market dynamics will be crucial to sustaining its momentum in the competitive business aviation landscape.
