Gulfstream Opens Maintenance Facility in Texas, Marks SAF Milestone

Gulfstream Expands Maintenance Operations with New Texas Facility
Gulfstream, a leading manufacturer of business jets, has inaugurated its new Repair and Overhaul Centre in Fort Worth, Texas. Unveiled during this year’s National Business Aviation Association’s Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), the 9,290-square-meter facility currently provides comprehensive services including the repair and overhaul of wheels, brakes, batteries, and hydraulics, alongside structural and composite repairs and paint work. The company has announced plans to broaden the center’s capabilities to encompass avionics, landing gear, and additional components, supported by an investment exceeding $21 million.
Mark Burns, President of Gulfstream, emphasized the strategic importance of the expansion, stating that enhancing in-house repair and overhaul capabilities will accelerate turnaround times and improve parts availability. This approach aims to better serve customer needs while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
The new Texas facility is expected to generate employment opportunities in the region and complements Gulfstream’s existing operations, including the Fort Worth Alliance Service Center and completions activities at Dallas Love Field. Gulfstream also maintains a Repair and Overhaul Center in Lincoln, California, which specializes in avionics and electronics repairs. The expansion reflects growing demand within the business aviation sector for faster maintenance services and improved parts availability. However, integrating the new center with existing operations while maintaining rigorous safety protocols may present operational challenges. This development is likely to enhance customer confidence and could prompt competitors such as Bombardier, Textron Aviation, and Dassault Aviation to upgrade their maintenance capabilities and accelerate the adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to remain competitive.
Sustainability Milestone: Over Three Million Nautical Miles on SAF
In conjunction with its facility expansion, Gulfstream has achieved a significant milestone in sustainability. The company’s fleet has now flown more than three million nautical miles using blends of sustainable aviation fuel. Gulfstream maintains a substantial supply of SAF at its Savannah headquarters and plans to increase its usage by nearly 50 percent this year compared to 2024.
Mark Burns highlighted the importance of this achievement, describing it as a testament to Gulfstream’s commitment to sourcing and demonstrating the benefits of SAF. He noted that the company has long been a leader in sustainability innovations within the business aviation sector, and this milestone further underscores its efforts to advance the industry’s broader environmental goals.
As Gulfstream continues to strengthen both its maintenance infrastructure and sustainability initiatives, the wider business aviation market may experience increased pressure to invest in similar advancements. This trend has the potential to accelerate progress across the industry in terms of operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.
