Jet Aviation Celebrates 20 Years of Operations in Dubai
Jet Aviation, a leading provider of maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO), and fixed-base operation (FBO) services, is commemorating two decades of continuous presence in Dubai. Since establishing its facility at Dubai International Airport in 2005, the Basel-based company has significantly expanded its footprint in the region’s business aviation sector, building on its initial Middle East entry in Saudi Arabia in 1979.
Expansion and Service Evolution
Over the years, Jet Aviation has broadened its service portfolio to include comprehensive fixed-wing and rotary-wing maintenance, completions, aircraft management, and VIP handling. Vincent Rongier, senior vice president of regional operations for EMEA, emphasized the importance of the United Arab Emirates to the company’s growth, noting that Jet Aviation has consistently supported local customers with a wide range of aviation services. The company’s presence in Dubai was further strengthened with the opening of a second FBO at Al Maktoum International Airport in 2012, which was later relocated to the shared VIP terminal in 2017.
The acquisition of Hawker Pacific in 2018 marked a significant milestone, introducing enhanced rotary-wing MRO capabilities, aircraft sales, aftermarket spares, and blade repair services through RBIH Dubai in partnership with Bell Textron. More recently, Jet Aviation has been appointed as a Pilatus PC-12 Service Center in 2022 and, in 2024, as an authorized warranty and Crystal Care service provider for the Pilatus PC-24, as well as an Authorized Service Center for the Gulfstream G700.
Current Operations and Market Challenges
Jet Aviation Dubai currently delivers a comprehensive suite of services, including maintenance, refurbishment, and modification for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, supported by two FBO facilities. As a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, Jet Aviation operates globally with over 4,500 employees across 50 locations, offering aircraft management, sales, charter, completions, government programs, and staffing services.
Despite its achievements, the company faces a challenging market environment characterized by rising operational costs and intense competition within a saturated business aviation sector. Maintaining competitive pricing and ensuring sustained demand remain critical priorities. Industry analysts are closely monitoring Jet Aviation’s strategic initiatives as it navigates these dynamics, while competitors are expected to enhance their service offerings and expand regional operations to capture greater market share.
Hardy Butschi, vice president of regional operations in the Middle East and general manager of Jet Aviation Dubai, expressed gratitude to customers, partners, and employees for their ongoing support, underscoring the company’s commitment to the region as it plans for the future.
