SAMI Alsalam Signs Four Deals at Dubai Airshow to Reenter Civil MRO and Connectivity Markets

SAMI Alsalam Reenters Civil MRO and Connectivity Markets with Four Strategic Deals at Dubai Airshow
At the 2025 Dubai Airshow, SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries announced a significant return to the civil aviation sector by signing four major agreements encompassing cabin connectivity, heavy maintenance, and life cycle support. These deals, formalized in the presence of senior Saudi aviation officials and leadership from the SAMI Group, align closely with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to localize aerospace expertise and reduce dependence on foreign Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) providers.
Strategic Partnerships and Market Positioning
The agreements, concluded with SkyFive Arabia, Jazeera Airways, ALPHASTAR Aviation, and ARTS Aviation Asset Management, position SAMI Alsalam as a pivotal player in the evolving aviation landscape of the Middle East. As a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Military Industries, SAMI Alsalam is leveraging these partnerships to integrate civil aviation capabilities within the broader defense and industrial ecosystem. This strategy supports Saudi Arabia’s ambition to establish itself as a regional hub for integrated fleet support, spanning both commercial aviation and national security domains.
A cornerstone of these agreements is the collaboration with SkyFive Arabia, which appoints SAMI Alsalam as the exclusive regional partner responsible for installing and testing advanced Air-to-Ground (A2G) connectivity systems. The initial deployment will focus on Flynas aircraft, with plans to potentially expand the service to as many as 120 additional aircraft operated by other carriers. This initiative involves the complex integration of equipment, wiring, and ground testing, reflecting the increasing demand for seamless broadband connectivity along busy air corridors. Mastery of cabin and avionics integration through this partnership strategically positions SAMI Alsalam at the forefront of next-generation inflight connectivity solutions.
In the MRO sector, a memorandum of understanding with Jazeera Airways will enable SAMI Alsalam to develop major maintenance check capabilities for the Kuwaiti carrier. By conducting these maintenance programs within Saudi Arabia, the company aims to enhance hangar utilization, stimulate demand for skilled technicians, and build expertise in narrowbody aircraft life cycle management. For Jazeera Airways, this arrangement promises shorter logistics chains and improved control over aircraft downtime, enhancing operational efficiency.
The business aviation market is also addressed through a memorandum with ALPHASTAR Aviation, which establishes a framework for MRO services tailored to business, VIP, and special mission aircraft. This partnership allows SAMI Alsalam to gain valuable experience managing diverse fleets with varying cabin configurations and technical requirements, further broadening its service portfolio.
Navigating a Complex Global Aviation Environment
SAMI Alsalam’s reentry into the civil MRO and connectivity markets occurs amid a rapidly shifting global aviation environment. The company faces challenges including ongoing aircraft delivery delays, intensifying competition as China seeks to challenge the dominance of Airbus and Boeing, and heightened geopolitical tensions that could affect market stability. Additionally, competition from established MRO providers—including regional players such as Jet Aviation—and the anticipated showcase of Russia’s Su-57 fighter at the airshow may influence customer decisions and alter market dynamics.
As Airbus and Boeing work to close the order gap, SAMI Alsalam’s ability to deliver integrated, localized solutions will be critical in navigating these competitive pressures. With these new agreements, the company is positioning itself as a central player in the region’s civil aviation ecosystem, with its success contingent upon adapting to evolving market forces and fulfilling the ambitions set forth in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
