Transavia Announces New Service to Croatia

Transavia Expands Croatian Network with New Amsterdam–Pula Route
Low-cost carrier Transavia has announced the launch of seasonal flights connecting Amsterdam and Pula, set to commence in the summer of 2027. This new service will enhance the airline’s footprint in Croatia, complementing its existing operations from Rotterdam to several coastal destinations in the country. Tickets for the Amsterdam–Pula route will become available for purchase starting Wednesday, September 16.
Competitive Dynamics in the Intra-European Market
Transavia’s entry into the Amsterdam–Pula corridor places it in direct competition with easyJet, which currently operates a limited schedule of two weekly flights during the peak summer months of July and August. This strategic move reflects Transavia’s ambition to solidify its position within the increasingly competitive intra-European low-cost carrier market. The airline’s expansion is expected to intensify competition on this route, potentially prompting rival carriers to adjust pricing strategies or increase service frequencies.
Challenges and Regulatory Considerations
Despite the growth opportunity, Transavia faces several challenges as it broadens its Croatian network. The intra-European market is already well-served by established airlines, and the introduction of this new route may trigger competitive responses. Additionally, the airline must contend with broader industry risks, including the potential for rising fuel prices and disruptions linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.
The expansion is also likely to draw scrutiny from European regulators concerned with maintaining fair competition and market access. How competitors and regulatory bodies will respond remains uncertain, but Transavia’s new Amsterdam–Pula service clearly signals its commitment to growing its presence in Croatia and the wider European leisure travel market.
