Airport Development Group Selects Infor for Systems Overhaul

Airport Development Group Selects Infor for Systems Overhaul
Comprehensive Modernisation Across Diverse Operations
Airport Development Group (ADG) has appointed Infor to spearhead a significant overhaul of its enterprise systems, targeting a modernisation of operations spanning its aviation, hotels, infrastructure, and property divisions. This initiative forms a key component of ADG’s broader strategy to streamline core systems, enhance operational integration, and bolster reporting capabilities throughout the organisation.
Managing Darwin International Airport, Alice Springs Airport, and Tennant Creek Airport, ADG recognised the necessity of upgrading its systems to better interconnect business processes and reduce reliance on manual workarounds. The group’s extensive portfolio, which includes tourism, hospitality, and commercial property, has created a complex environment for finance, reporting, and internal coordination, necessitating a more unified technological approach.
Implementation of Infor CloudSuite Public Sector
Infor CloudSuite Public Sector was selected for its capacity to unify business processes and improve visibility within a highly regulated sector. The system rollout will be conducted in phases, with the initial stage scheduled to go live in December 2026. ADG is also exploring the possibility of extending the platform to additional operational areas, reflecting its commitment to comprehensive digital transformation.
This decision aligns with global trends as airport operators face mounting demands for enhanced reporting, governance, and operational efficiency across finance, asset management, property, and customer-facing functions. ADG’s choice of a public sector-focused solution underscores its prioritisation of controls and compliance in updating its internal systems.
Challenges and Industry Context
Despite the anticipated benefits, the transition presents challenges. Infor’s own research highlights the difficulty of scaling artificial intelligence (AI) solutions beyond pilot phases, a challenge ADG may confront as it seeks to leverage Infor’s AI orchestration tools. Industry analysts are closely monitoring how effectively these tools can manage the complexities inherent in large-scale system integration within the aviation sector.
The competitive landscape is also evolving rapidly. Other airport operators, such as Phu Quoc Airport, have recently adopted SITA for automated passenger systems, illustrating a broader industry shift towards advanced data coordination and automation. Concurrently, Xi’an Airport’s ongoing investments in infrastructure and hub expansion strategies demonstrate the centrality of technology upgrades to growth plans across the sector.
Leadership Perspectives and Economic Impact
Tony Edmondstone, CEO of Airport Development Group, emphasised the strategic importance of the upgrade, stating, “Infor provides the capability to support the next phase of our systems transition. As the operational landscape continues to evolve, it is important that our internal systems can support the breadth of our activities across aviation, hotels, infrastructure, and property. The platform will assist in improving integration across our business and enhancing the way we capture and report operational data.”
Aidan Brecknell, Vice President and Managing Director of Infor ANZ, described the partnership as a move towards a more connected and transparent operation for ADG, with governance and reporting at its core.
Backed by joint owners IFM Investors and Palisade Investment Partners, ADG manages assets approaching AUD 3 billion and has contributed approximately AUD 667 million annually to the Northern Territory economy over its 25-year history. Infor, owned by Koch Industries, provides business software to over 60,000 organisations in more than 175 countries, maintaining a strong presence in government and regulated industries.
As ADG embarks on this ambitious systems transformation, the effectiveness of its technology choices and its capacity to scale emerging tools such as AI will be closely observed within an increasingly competitive and data-driven aviation sector.
