Embraer Signs MoUs with AMMROC and GAL to Advance Defense Development

Embraer Strengthens Middle East Defense Ties with AMMROC and GAL
Embraer has formalized its commitment to expanding its defense footprint in the Middle East by signing two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with UAE-based defense companies AMMROC (Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Center) and GAL (Global Aerospace Logistics). These agreements are designed to enhance collaboration in aerospace and defense development, with a particular emphasis on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services and training for the KC-390 Millennium multi-mission military transport aircraft.
Collaborative Framework and Strategic Objectives
In the forthcoming months, Embraer, AMMROC, and GAL will engage in detailed discussions to establish a comprehensive work plan. This plan will address end-user requirements for the KC-390, encompassing future fleet support, training initiatives, and engineering services related to aircraft modifications. The partnership is expected to extend beyond traditional MRO activities, incorporating aftermarket support, logistics, training, and repair services. This broad scope underscores the shared commitment of all parties to deliver innovative and integrated solutions tailored to the evolving needs of regional defense customers.
Jasem Al Marzooqi, CEO of AMMROC, underscored the importance of the partnership, stating that the MoU represents a significant advancement in AMMROC’s capabilities through collaboration with one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers. He emphasized the shared vision of providing comprehensive maintenance and in-service support solutions that ensure mission readiness and operational excellence across local, regional, and international domains.
Similarly, Abdelrahman AlHammadi, Acting CEO of GAL, highlighted the strategic significance of the agreement for the UAE’s defense and aerospace sectors. He noted that the partnership with Embraer and AMMROC strengthens sovereign defense capabilities and positions the UAE as a regional hub for advanced aerospace services. The collaboration aims to deliver unparalleled readiness and lifecycle support for the KC-390 Millennium and future platforms.
Bosco Da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, reaffirmed Embraer’s long-term commitment to the UAE and the broader Middle East region. He emphasized that the partnership with AMMROC and GAL is intended to bolster local capabilities and provide world-class support for the KC-390 Millennium.
The KC-390 Millennium: Capabilities and Market Context
The KC-390 Millennium, which entered service with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019 and has since been adopted by the Portuguese and Hungarian air forces, is recognized for its high reliability and operational performance. The aircraft boasts a mission capability rate of 93% and mission completion rates exceeding 99%. It can transport up to 26 tons of cargo, achieve speeds of 470 knots, and operate from temporary or unpaved runways. Its versatility enables it to perform a wide array of missions, including cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the KC-390 is equipped for aerial refueling, functioning both as a tanker and receiver.
Despite previous supply chain challenges that affected production targets, Embraer has recently reported that these issues no longer impede its 2025 production plans. The timing of these new MoUs coincides with increased market interest in Embraer’s defense offerings, particularly following Brazil’s proposal of the KC-390 to India. As Brazil reduces its own KC-390 order, competitors in the defense sector may recalibrate their strategies in response to Embraer’s expanding role in international defense collaborations.
These strategic agreements between Embraer, AMMROC, and GAL set the stage for a wide-ranging partnership that will deliver comprehensive defense and support solutions, addressing the dynamic requirements of regional security and aerospace sectors.
