Horizon Aircraft Partners with NAI to Develop Wings for Cavorite X7

Horizon Aircraft Collaborates with North Aircraft Industries on Cavorite X7 Wing Development
Horizon Aircraft has entered into a strategic partnership with North Aircraft Industries (NAI) to manufacture and conduct structural testing of custom-designed wings for its full-scale vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, the Cavorite X7. NAI, a globally recognized leader in aerospace composite engineering, will be responsible for both the production process and in-house structural testing once manufacturing is complete.
Innovative Wing Design Central to Cavorite X7 Performance
The Cavorite X7 incorporates a pioneering wing design that facilitates vertical take-off and landing by deploying wing covers to expose 12 embedded electric lift fans. During forward flight, these covers close, converting the aircraft into an efficient fixed-wing configuration. This unique wing structure is fundamental to the aircraft’s performance and requires advanced composite manufacturing expertise to realize.
Brandon Robinson, co-founder and CEO of Horizon Aircraft, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating, “Building our proprietary wing demands an exceptional composite manufacturing team with deep experience in complex structures. North Aircraft Industries has the experience, skill, and agility to keep our production of the Cavorite X7 on track. We are proud to partner once again with a leading Canadian aerospace company that will play a critical role in completing the X7 and prepare it for testing in 2027.”
Industry Challenges and Market Outlook
This partnership emerges amid ongoing challenges within the aerospace sector, including workforce shortages and component supply constraints. These issues, underscored by Boeing Global Services, have impacted the broader aerospace aftermarket and compelled companies to adjust their production strategies and supply chain management accordingly.
Despite these obstacles, the aerospace market exhibits signs of recovery. Boeing’s recent accomplishment of securing 107 aircraft orders in January 2026 reflects a positive industry trajectory. While competitor reactions to Horizon Aircraft’s latest development have not been disclosed, the sector’s focus on addressing supply chain disruptions and labor shortages highlights the competitive environment in which Horizon operates.
As Horizon Aircraft and NAI advance the development of the Cavorite X7’s wings, their capacity to manage these industry-wide challenges will be critical to adhering to production schedules and achieving successful flight testing by 2027.
