Sanad and GE Aerospace Sign Agreement to Develop UAE Aerospace Talent

Sanad and GE Aerospace Forge Partnership to Advance UAE Aerospace Talent Development
Sanad, a global leader in aerospace engineering and leasing solutions owned by Mubadala Investment Company PJSC, has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GE Aerospace to enhance talent development within the United Arab Emirates’ aerospace sector. The agreement was signed at the “Make it in the Emirates Forum” in Abu Dhabi and establishes a comprehensive framework for training, knowledge exchange, and innovation. This collaboration supports Abu Dhabi’s strategic vision to cultivate a globally competitive, knowledge-based aerospace economy.
Strengthening Workforce Capabilities Amid Industry Challenges
Building on a partnership that began in 2013, the new MoU emphasizes immersive training programs, innovation-driven initiatives, and structured knowledge-sharing efforts. The timing of this collaboration is critical, as the global demand for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) professionals is projected to reach $169 billion by 2037. The aerospace sector currently faces a significant workforce shortage, a challenge underscored by recent studies from the Aerospace Industries Association and McKinsey. These findings highlight the urgent need to develop a robust pipeline of skilled professionals to meet evolving industry demands.
Sanad and GE Aerospace will implement targeted programs offering technical training, job placement opportunities, and digital learning platforms designed to prepare the next generation of aerospace experts. The partnership aims to enhance talent retention, elevate technical proficiency, and align workforce capabilities with the dynamic requirements of the global aerospace industry. Key initiatives under the MoU include collaborative access to training materials, joint participation in technical programs, and knowledge sharing through Learning Management Systems and apprenticeship schemes. Additionally, the integration of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and advanced tools into engine hardware training will provide a blend of theoretical and practical learning experiences. The partnership will also apply LEAN Kaizen principles to optimize shop processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve operational performance.
Leadership Perspectives and Strategic Implications
Mansoor Janahi, Managing Director and Group CEO of Sanad, highlighted the strategic significance of the partnership, stating, “At Sanad, human capital is our most valuable asset. Our partnership with GE Aerospace enables us to combine Sanad’s industry insight with GE’s world-renowned training capabilities. Together, we are cultivating a workforce that is future-ready and well-equipped to drive innovation and excellence in aerospace, while advancing Abu Dhabi’s leading position in the global aviation industry.”
Echoing this sentiment, Dave Kircher, GEnx Product Line General Manager at GE Aerospace, remarked, “We are proud to work with Sanad in shaping the future of aerospace talent in the UAE. As a committed partner in the UAE’s aviation ecosystem for more than four decades, this MoU reflects our shared continued commitment to knowledge exchange, innovation, and building the next generation of aviation professionals.”
The agreement arrives amid intensifying competition within the global aerospace sector. Notably, GE Aerospace’s resumption of jet engine shipments to China’s COMAC signals a potential easing of U.S.-China trade tensions, prompting aerospace firms worldwide to accelerate efforts in securing and developing local talent to maintain competitive advantage. Concurrent supply chain challenges further underscore the necessity of cultivating a skilled and adaptable workforce.
By reinforcing the UAE’s talent pipeline and fostering innovation, the Sanad-GE Aerospace partnership seeks to solidify Abu Dhabi’s status as a global aerospace hub while addressing the sector’s most pressing workforce challenges.
