VietJet Adopts SmartKargo’s AI-Based AIRCAM System

VietJet Implements SmartKargo’s AI-Based AIRCAM System to Enhance Cargo Operations
VietJet has integrated AIRCAM, an advanced AI-powered Revenue and Capacity Management (RCM) solution developed by SmartKargo, into its cargo operations as part of a strategic initiative to improve profitability and optimise network capacity. This adoption represents a significant advancement for VietJet as it aims to consolidate its presence in Asia’s rapidly growing e-commerce and air cargo markets.
Enhancing Efficiency Through AI Integration
AIRCAM is fully embedded within the SmartKargo Cargo Management Platform, providing VietJet with a comprehensive system for forecasting capacity, optimising space allocation, predicting demand, and maximising revenue in real time. The AI-driven platform dynamically balances demand, pricing, and available belly capacity, enabling cargo teams to enhance yield management, reduce inefficiencies, and capitalise on emerging market opportunities.
Nelson Wu Di, Managing Director at VietJet Cargo, emphasised the importance of this technological upgrade, stating, “Air cargo has become a critical growth engine for VietJet. Implementing SmartKargo’s AIRCAM solution allows us to bring AI-driven forecasting and real-time revenue optimisation to our operations. This gives our teams the ability to respond faster to market conditions, optimise capacity utilisation, and grow profitability across our network — all while continuing to deliver reliable service for our customers.”
Olivier Houri, Chief Revenue Officer at SmartKargo, highlighted the strategic significance of VietJet’s decision, noting, “VietJet’s adoption of AIRCAM reflects their vision and commitment to turning cargo into a strategic profit centre. AIRCAM empowers airlines to make data-driven decisions by combining advanced AI forecasting with real-time revenue and capacity optimisation. We are proud to support VietJet as they accelerate their cargo growth and unlock new revenue opportunities across Asia.”
Challenges and Industry Implications
Despite the clear benefits, the transition to AI-driven systems presents challenges. VietJet must address potential resistance from staff accustomed to traditional operational methods, alongside managing the substantial initial investment required for integrating such sophisticated technology. Ensuring smooth implementation will necessitate comprehensive training and adaptation across multiple teams. Furthermore, market skepticism regarding the immediate impact of AI adoption may arise, while competitors might respond by accelerating their own AI initiatives or investing in more advanced solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
Nonetheless, the broader aviation and logistics sectors are increasingly embracing AI technologies. Industry leaders worldwide express optimism about AI’s role in enhancing operational efficiency and competitiveness, suggesting that airlines like VietJet will face mounting pressure to innovate and adapt as AI becomes integral to their business models.
Positioning for Future Growth
With AIRCAM, VietJet is better equipped to respond swiftly to seasonal demand fluctuations, changes in passenger load, and evolving cost structures. The system’s continuous evaluation of demand and pricing empowers VietJet’s commercial and operational teams to make proactive, profit-oriented decisions that bolster overall network performance. As VietJet navigates the complexities of AI adoption, its move underscores a broader digital transformation underway in the Asian air cargo market.
