WFS to Introduce CIND’s ContourCheck ULD Modeling Software in Amsterdam, London, and Paris
Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a subsidiary of SATS, is poised to expand the deployment of CIND’s ContourCheck system across its key air cargo handling hubs in Amsterdam, London, and Paris. This move represents the next phase in WFS’s global rollout of advanced digital unit load device (ULD) measurement technology, with the system expected to become operational at Amsterdam Schiphol, London Heathrow, and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports in early 2026.
Advancing Automation and Digitalisation in Air Cargo Handling
This expansion aligns with WFS’s broader strategic objective to integrate automation and digital technologies throughout its extensive WFS/SATS network, which encompasses 225 stations across 27 countries and manages trade routes accounting for over half of the world’s air cargo volume. Earlier in 2024, WFS became the first air cargo handler to implement CIND’s 3D modeling software, which is currently in daily use at its facilities in Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Madrid, and Toulouse.
In an industry where operational efficiency must be balanced with stringent safety and security standards, the adoption of ContourCheck has already yielded tangible benefits for WFS and its airline partners. The system enhances data accuracy and transparency by generating detailed digital reports, complete with images for each flight, thereby providing verifiable proof that every ULD meets contour compliance and is fit to fly.
Jimi Daniel Hansen, Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence at WFS, emphasized the significance of this technology, stating, “CIND’s ContourCheck solution is an important step in our journey towards automation and digitalisation. It allows us to digitally measure ULDs, ensuring all ULDs are 100% fit to fly, providing valuable data, and helping us optimise cargo space. None of the ULDs built using ContourCheck have been offloaded for contour issues. This not only builds trust but also allows airlines partnering with WFS to optimise their operations. Our close collaboration with CIND has been key to adapting the system to our needs.”

The introduction of ContourCheck in these major European hubs occurs within a highly competitive cargo and logistics technology market. Established software providers are intensifying efforts to secure dominance, particularly in dynamic cities like London, where the technology and fashion sectors are experiencing renewed growth. This environment presents both opportunities and challenges for WFS, as it seeks to distinguish itself amid heightened competition.
Industry analysts anticipate that competitors will respond aggressively, especially in London, by enhancing existing solutions or developing new technologies to protect their market positions. Furthermore, the widespread adoption of such digital systems remains a critical hurdle, as the scale of industry uptake will ultimately determine the return on investment for these innovations.
Despite these challenges, WFS regards its partnership with CIND as a benchmark for how targeted technological solutions can effectively address complex logistical issues. Hansen remarked, “By replacing a manual, data-poor process with a digital, real-time system, WFS is setting a new standard for efficiency and optimisation in the air cargo industry.”
As WFS advances its digital transformation, the forthcoming rollout of ContourCheck in Amsterdam, London, and Paris will serve as a significant indicator of both technological progress and market responsiveness within the evolving air cargo sector.
