Air India has embarked on an ambitious retrofit programme in partnership with RECARO Aircraft Seating to enhance the cabin experience across its Boeing 787-8 fleet. The initiative involves the installation of RECARO’s PL3530 seats in premium economy and CL3710 seats in economy class, both tailored to Air India’s specifications with a strong emphasis on passenger comfort and functionality. This comprehensive upgrade aims to bring the airline’s older 787-8 aircraft in line with the cabin standards of its newer Boeing 787-9 fleet.
Enhancing Passenger Comfort and Operational Consistency
The new seats feature improved ergonomics, increased recline, adjustable headrests, and integrated charging ports for personal electronic devices, reflecting modern passenger expectations. The retrofit will encompass 26 aircraft, with nearly 6,000 seats to be replaced across the 787-8 fleet.
