CSI Leasing Acquires Aeroservicios to Expand GSE Services

CSI Leasing Acquires Aeroservicios to Expand Ground Support Equipment Services
CSI Leasing Inc. (CSI), one of the world’s largest independent equipment leasing companies, has acquired a majority stake in Aeroservicios USA, Inc., a Miami-based leader in ground support equipment (GSE) with nearly three decades of industry experience. This strategic acquisition is designed to enhance CSI’s position in the GSE sector by integrating its global leasing expertise with Aeroservicios’ specialized refurbishment and remarketing capabilities.
Strengthening Capabilities in Ground Support Equipment
Founded in 1996 by Gabriel Serrano and his father, Aeroservicios has established a strong reputation for reconditioning used GSE to near-new condition. The company also offers sales, rentals, and leasing of a broad range of new and used equipment and parts from leading manufacturers. Its product portfolio includes baggage carts and tractors, loaders, catering trucks, dollies, forklifts, lavatory carts, stairs, tow bars, and utility vehicles. Aeroservicios operates two full-service shops and a storage yard in Miami covering nearly 580,000 square feet, alongside a 19,000-square-foot facility in Guatemala.
Gabriel Serrano will continue as CEO, ensuring leadership continuity as Aeroservicios begins refurbishing and remarketing CSI’s off-lease GSE. This integration is expected to provide ground support handlers, commercial and cargo airlines, and other industry stakeholders with access to high-quality equipment paired with flexible financing options.
Steve Hamilton, chairman and CEO of CSI Leasing, emphasized the benefits of the acquisition, stating, “CSI has been leasing new and used GSE for nearly 10 years. Aeroservicios’ robust refurbishing experience and vast understanding of the GSE market will allow CSI to offer more competitive lease pricing and additional services to its customers.” He further noted that under Serrano’s leadership, Aeroservicios has earned an exceptional industry reputation, and the combination will significantly enhance CSI’s strategy in the GSE market.
Gabriel Serrano expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “I’m thrilled for Aeroservicios to join the CSI family and its growing team. CSI’s reputation, along with its global footprint, is unmatched in the leasing industry. Aeroservicios’ GSE experience, combined with CSI’s leasing and financing expertise, will give customers a one-stop GSE solution. Our services align very well and will be an excellent benefit to our new and existing customers.”
Navigating a Competitive and Evolving Market
The acquisition occurs amid increasing competition and consolidation within the GSE sector. Recent industry developments, including Air Lease’s $7.4 billion acquisition by a Japan-led consortium and the appointment of Michel Jacobs as CSI’s new chief strategy officer, highlight the dynamic nature of the market. CSI faces challenges related to integrating operational synergies, adapting to evolving regulatory frameworks, and addressing heightened investor scrutiny concerning strategic alignment and expected returns. Additionally, competitors may intensify efforts to capture market share or innovate their service offerings in response to the expanded capabilities of CSI and Aeroservicios.
Through this acquisition, CSI Leasing aims to solidify its presence in the GSE market by delivering comprehensive solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the aviation industry.
