France Advances Military Drone Capabilities with Airbus U050 Capa-X Order France has taken a decisive step in modernizing its military drone capabilities by ordering eight Airbus U050 Capa-X uncrewed aircraft. Announced by Airbus on September 10, 2026, this procurement follows successful land and maritime trials and forms part of the Light Tactical Drone System (Système de drone tactique léger, SDTL) evaluation program. The acquisition underscores France’s commitment to enhancing the operational flexibility and technological edge of both its Army and Navy. Details of the Procurement and Capabilities The French Aeronautical Maintenance Directorate (Direction de la maintenance aéronautique, DMAé) has contracted for four drone systems, each comprising two U050 units.
