Jeh Aerospace CEO Highlights Growing Trust in India’s Aerospace Manufacturing
India’s Emerging Role in Global Aerospace Manufacturing
In recent years, the precision manufacturing of aircraft components has been predominantly centered in Western Europe and North America. However, this dynamic is undergoing a significant transformation as India’s aerospace sector advances into a new phase characterized by both ambition and execution. Vishal R Sanghavi, Founder of Jeh Aerospace, asserts that India is increasingly recognized not merely as a cost-effective manufacturing destination but as a credible hub for high-precision, safety-critical aerospace production. This shift comes amid structural changes in global aviation supply chains, positioning India as a vital player in the industry’s evolving landscape.
Jeh Aerospace’s Strategic Milestone and Industry Impact
Jeh Aerospace exemplifies this transformation through its growing capabilities to meet the stringent standards demanded by leading aerospace companies worldwide. The company’s recent long-term agreement with Liebherr-Aerospace to manufacture landing gear components represents a landmark achievement. This partnership not only elevates Jeh Aerospace’s profile but also enhances India’s reputation within the global aerospace manufacturing community. It signals a deeper trust in Indian manufacturers, who are now being entrusted with some of the most critical and safety-sensitive aircraft systems.
Operating out of Hyderabad, a city rapidly emerging as a key aerospace and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) hub, Jeh Aerospace leverages advanced manufacturing technologies, a skilled workforce, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Sanghavi emphasized in an exclusive interview that the agreement with Liebherr-Aerospace reflects the maturation of India’s aerospace ecosystem. He noted that global Tier 1 suppliers are increasingly valuing India for its genuine technical expertise, beyond cost advantages.
Liebherr-Aerospace’s decision followed a comprehensive technical evaluation of Jeh Aerospace’s Hyderabad facility, underscoring the rigorous standards Indian manufacturers must meet. Sanghavi highlighted that the confidence placed in such facilities is earned through consistent execution, certifications, and quality assurance across hundreds of thousands of components. He also pointed to Hyderabad’s decade-long investment in developing talent and infrastructure as foundational to this progress.
Challenges and Competitive Landscape
Landing gear components, among the most critical parts of an aircraft, demand exceptional reliability and strict adherence to tolerance and material specifications. Sanghavi stressed that trust in this domain is not granted lightly but is earned methodically over time through proven performance.
Despite Jeh Aerospace’s advancements, the company operates within a highly competitive and evolving market. Established global players such as Honeywell and Stanley Black & Decker—whose aerospace manufacturing division was recently acquired by Howmet Aerospace—continue to set high industry benchmarks. Concurrently, Indian competitors like Jaykay Enterprises are expanding their defense manufacturing capabilities through acquisitions, potentially intensifying competition within the sector.
Market conditions also present challenges. India’s HSBC Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) declined to 53.8 in March, indicating a slight deceleration in the broader manufacturing sector. This trend may affect the pace at which gains in aerospace manufacturing translate into sustained growth.
Nevertheless, Sanghavi remains optimistic about the sector’s trajectory. He credits government initiatives such as Make in India for accelerating progress and believes that as global aerospace supply chains seek diversification and resilience, India’s emergence as a key manufacturing hub is not only imminent but already underway.
