Teledyne Launches GroundLink ECP System for Boeing 737 Amid Competitive Avionics Market
Teledyne Controls has introduced its GroundLink Edge Computing Platform (ECP) alongside the AppLink cloud service, following the receipt of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Boeing 737 series. This certification marks a significant advancement, allowing airlines to remotely deploy, update, and scale onboard software applications across their fleets without necessitating aircraft downtime, hardware modifications, or individual aircraft-level certification for each new application.
Innovative Edge Computing for Aircraft Operations
The GroundLink ECP system, managed through Teledyne’s AppLink cloud service, offers an open onboard edge computing environment that integrates multiple communication interfaces, including 5G cellular, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and ARINC 429/717. It also features an ARINC 679- and OCI-compliant application server, enabling operators to remotely manage and deploy applications developed internally, by Teledyne, or by certified third parties. Mehrdad Radmehr, President of Teledyne Controls, described the launch as a transformative development, emphasizing that the platform empowers operators with direct control over onboard applications, thereby enhancing operational efficiency, supporting flight crews, and accelerating innovation.
The Boeing 737 certification represents the initial phase of Teledyne’s broader strategy to extend its software-defined aircraft data platform to additional commercial aircraft types, with further approvals anticipated in the near future.

Teledyne’s entry into the advanced avionics sector occurs amid intensifying competition and rapid technological evolution.
